GCC Lady Lions Finish Season Strong

The Gateway Community College Women’s Basketball Team ended their season with a final record of 13-6. At the height of their season, the Lady Lions were ranked No. 7 in the nation and No. 2 in New England Region, 21. At the regional tournament in Springfield, Mass. on Feb. 27, 2016, they faced UCONN, Avery Point in the semi-finals and emerged victorious with a final score of 78-75. The high scorers for the game were Dejah Lanier, with a game high of 28 points; Katrina DePugh, with 14 points; and Ava Marie Harris with 9 assists. The game sealed their spot in the finals against No. 1 nationally-ranked Roxbury Lady Tigers of Boston. 

The championship on Feb., 28, 2016 was a real nail biter, with Roxbury defeating the Gateway Lady Lions 68-58. The high scorers in this game were Tiara Thompson, with 16 points, and Ava Harris, Amanda McKenzie, and Shantel Ratchford each with 10 points respectively.
