NHPS Developmental Initiative

Current News

Currently there is no plan to offer Fall 2014 Gateway courses at New Haven Public High Schools. However, in the Spring 2015 Gateway developmental Math and English courses will be offered. Stay tuned for more information.

Background Information

In 2012, the Connecticut legislature passed PA 12-40, which altered the offerings of developmental education at colleges in the state.  In order to address these challenges, a partnership between New Haven Public Schools and Gateway Community College was formed.  The intention of the initiative was to provide college developmental education within local high schools in order to accelerate advancement toward college level courses upon admission to Gateway or other colleges and universities.
