Are you interested in a career in fire safety? Gateway Community College has the solution! Gateway offers a program in Firefighting 1 & 2 Certification.

This program provides:
  • EMT and CT Firefighter 1 & 2 training for certifications
  • Guidance for the standard municipal fire department civil service application exam
  • Assistance with locating employment opportunities
  • The program takes place in certified training facilities and courses are taught by certified staff
Note: There are prerequisites for program enrollment. Mandatory information session for program enrollment.
 
Firefighters control and extinguish fires or respond to emergency situations where life, property, or the environment is at risk. Duties may include fire prevention, emergency medical service, free trapped individuals, hazardous material response, and search and rescue.
 
EMTs assess injuries, administer emergency medical care, and provide disaster assistance. They also transport injured
or sick persons to medical facilities.
