Military members and post 9/11 Veterans, their spouses and caretakers are eligible for scholarships, which make the classes free. Taught by industry professionals. Includes hands-on learning and professional portfolio development.
 

VIDEO EDITING

Prepares students to use the audio and video medium to create compelling, abstract stories. Students will learn to perform basic to intermediate editing tasks on a professional, digital, non-linear system. Students will explore storytelling tools such as pacing, tone, rhythm, unity and juxtaposition, as well as technical aspects such as cleanly cutting, synching, normalizing, organizing, and compressing. Students, from this course, will learn skills needed to complete Premiere Adobe Certified Associate certification exam.

* Optional Add-on: Exam Voucher for Adobe Certified Associate.

Outcomes:

  • Tell simple stories using audio and video medium
  • Perform basic to intermediate editing task on a digital non-linear editing system
  • Organize files on projects of various scales
  • Identify various media file types and their uses
  • Manipulate existing assets to create deeper meaning
  • Think analytically about image manipulation in conjunction with storytelling

The primary goal of this course is to prepare students to use the audio and video medium to create compelling, abstract stories. Students will learn about the different aspects of Visual Storytelling. They will understand the fundamentals of good visual composition and develop the ability to properly shoot video in the field.

Outcomes:

  • Tell simple stories using audio and video medium
  • Understand the fundamentals of good visual composition
  • Be able to demonstrate a grasp of basic composition techniques
  • Develop an ability to properly shoot video and gather audio in the field
  • Think analytically about image making in conjunction with storytelling
