Gateway Community College is committed to providing high quality services to our Veteran students. The Veteran Services office, located Room N213H, serves as the point of contact for all Veteran students. Veterans are connected to both internal and external resources aimed at making their experience at the college a success.
All New Veteran should contact the Veteran Services Office to begin the enrollment process (203) 285-2146. New Veteran should follow the college’s admissions process as outlined on the Admissions page. New Veteran, even those using GI Bill benefits, should follow the student financial aid process as outlined on the Financial Aid page.
Applying for Veteran Administration GI Bill Educational Benefits:
The VONAPP (Veteran Online Application) is available at www.gibill.va.gov. New Veteran can complete the application on their own or receive assistance during their scheduled intake (see below).
What to Bring:
New Veteran should bring a copy their discharge paperwork (DD-214) to verify their record of service. Veteran should also bring their bank routing and account numbers to establish their direct deposit with the Veteran Administration. If you have already completed the VONAPP, and received your letter of eligibility from the VA, please bring that to your intake appointment.
All new veteran will meet one-on-one with Vets Office staff to complete initial paperwork and begin the enrollment process. Walk-in intakes are welcomed by appointment. Please contact us to schedule an appointment.
New Veteran Orientation:
Prior to the start of each semester, new veteran students will be invited to participate in an orientation to familiarize them with the college. Orientation sessions will focus on academic programs, student services, GI Bill Compliance and developing mentoring relationship between new and continuing veteran students.
