American Honda, Inc. and Gateway Community College (GCC) are pleased to announce a new partnership to provide specialized Automotive Technology training to prepare students for careers as Honda/Acura Automotive Technicians.

The new Honda PACT (Professional Automotive Career Training) program is designed and supported by American Honda to prepare students in the latest industry standards and specializations. Along with classroom instruction in the multiple technologies incorporated into American Honda vehicles, students will receive hands-on training and experience with late model Honda and Acura cars that are provided to Gateway Community College by the manufacturer. Students in the new Honda PACT program will also be required to participate in internships with Honda and Acura dealerships, where they will gain real-world experience in the automotive industry.

Automotive Technology Department Chair Daniel Fuller and American Honda PACT Coordinator Scott McFarland were instrumental in bringing the new program to Gateway Community College.

“We realized the need for expanded opportunities in the industry and the Honda PACT program provides another excellent career pathway for our students," said Fuller.

The PACT program joins General Motors ASEP (Automotive Service Educational Program) and the CARS (Comprehensive Automotive Repair & Service) program as Automotive Technology degree options for GCC students.  All three programs offer an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences.

The new American Honda PACT program begins in the fall 2016 semester, starting August 29. The class is limited to 16 students. Early registration is encouraged as specialized classes fill quickly.
