GCC Great Center Launches Music Technology and Audio Engineering Certificate Program

The GREAT Center at Gateway Community College and Breed Production Studios have joined forces to offer a new Music Technology & Audio Engineering Certificate program starting September 13 through February 23.

The program is designed to give students a solid foundation to prepare for entry level position in the music production and/or engineering field leading to music recording or producing careers. Minium requirements for this course include basic computer skills and an active interest in audio, recording techniques and sound reinforcement. No previous musical background or recording experience required.

The curriculum, which takes place a the House of Vibe studios in West Haven, CT, includes Introduction to Music Technology, Digital Production Basics, Audio Technology Basics, Understanding Electronic and Computer Music,Fundamentals of Song Writing and Composition, Networking and navigating the Music Business, and Industry Software: Logic X and Protools. Class instruction consists of a combination of lecture and hands-on activities and a final project l Project that demonstrates understanding of music Technology & Engineering.

The Music Technology & Audio Engineering Certificate program is  taught by Grammy nominated Music Producer, Musician and Song Writer, Aaron Rogers. Rogers played on two world tours with Platinum recording Artist Jahiem and Joe. In addition to recording and producing music at his studio, HOV, his current works include, Coordinator of the Therapeutic Music Program at the Children’s Center in Hamden, CT and Musical Director for The Slamming Band, recently returned from an Eastern European tour and whose headliners include: Chaka Khan, Macy Gray, Wilson Pickett, WAR, and Ray. According to ReverbNation, The Slamming Band is “rated the hottest and most cutting edge recording, dance band on the East Coast”. Producer and Writing credits include Tamar Braxton (#2 album on Top 100), Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Neyo and Bobby Smhurda.
