A message from Dorsey L. Kendrick, Gateway Community College President
We mourn again, for the people of Orlando, Florida, and the people throughout this nation, and for all humanity! Once again, bigotry, hatred, and injustice have raised their ugly heads.
This senseless attack, the morning of June 12, on the LGBTQI community is another indication of why we must continue to stand strong by promoting justice, peace, love and respect for all people.
Last week when I gave my speech at the ADL Torch Of Liberty Ceremony, I said one saying that was promoted on their website that gave me pause: “Education is an antidote for the virus of hate." The lesson I learned from that statement is that each of us plays a role in showing love, tolerance, and respect for one another.
Let us pause today, reflect on what has happened, and think of ways we can continue to carry the torch of love for as long as we can as an example to others.
In the words of Erich Fromm: “Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence.”
In love and peace,
