President’s Corner

A message from Dorsey L. Kendrick, Gateway Community College President

"People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care."  - John C. Maxwell

As we close the door on Spring 2017 and look onward and upward toward the future, I feel so grateful. This will be the last end of the year letter that I shall send as President.

It has been a tremendous 17+ years for me. I have seen the college grow and evolve into a larger, greater, and more visible institution of higher learning.  Together, we have changed our little corner of the world. GCC students should be so proud of the work that we have done collectively as a team. We embraced a vision, we mustered up support, and we executed a plan that has left an indelible mark on New Haven  and on the State of Connecticut for generations to come.

I celebrate with you 15+ years of our nursing program on Tuesday, May 16; 25 years as a merged college on May 25;  and the BOR approval of our NEASC Reaccreditation report last Thursday morning. We have come a long way, but there is so much more work to be done. I am confident that you have the fortitude, tenacity, and commitment to survive regardless of whatever the circumstances are that you may experience in the future.  Community Colleges are essential to the well-being of society, and education will always be an intricate part of the fabric of our society.
