President’s Corner

A message from Dorsey L. Kendrick, Gateway Community College President

"People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care."  - John C. Maxwell

To those of you who were able to attend my retirement celebration June  21, thank you.  For those who were there in spirit but not physically, thank you.

It was a wonderful evening to celebrate and reflect on all of the achievements and accomplishments we have made as a” community of learners.”  I am so grateful to have been able to share these past 18 years with you.  I am confident that the work that we have done together will continue, and that you will be better, more resilient and stronger because of all of the experiences and  expertise you have gained.

As you know, June 30 is my last day as President.  I leave with my head high, proud, and honored to have been able to serve,  grow and achieve so much with your help and support.  Thank you all for a job well done!!  I hope that you will continue to advocate for things that matter to make this college and our community a better place to be.  I am counting on you.  In the words of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr: “ Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” All of you matter and so does this community. Be a voice for those who cannot speak, and eyes for those who cannot  see, and a light for those who have no path to follow.

I wish you all of life’s best.  Blessings, goodness and
