A message from Dorsey L. Kendrick, Gateway Community College President
As we look back over the past year, I would like to express my gratitude for all of the hard work and dedication that our wonderfully diverse college community brings to our students and our community each and every day.
2015 has brought the world real and sometimes frightening challenges, but I believe that we need to exist with the spirit of forgiveness. We should never let our joy for life and for humanity be stolen. As the year draws to a close, I encourage everyone to remove the shackles of fear and hate, and replace them with hope.
“Hatred and bitterness paralyze life, love releases it. Hatred confuses life, love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life, love illuminates it.”(Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.)
Choose to love. Choose joy! As we begin our celebrations of the holiday season, remember to give a special hug to someone important to you, or a special act of kindness to someone in need. We cannot control the world, but we can show kindness and have a positive impact wherever we are.
Finally, let us pause and reflect on the things that bind us all together, and realize that “none of us is free, until each of us is free.” We are all brothers and sisters in spirit and in love.
Happy New Year, and may 2016 bring peace.
